Benjamin N. Wright lives in Kalamazoo, Michigan with three cats and a mummy. He works in an undisclosed retail location that would get him fired for revealing its name on Twitter. Ben’s biggest passion at this point in his life are his various brewing projects and at any given time he can have up to 20 gallons of various beverages in different phases of completion. He is also way too old to still be playing with Lego.
Curator 12 — Laura Schmitt — 4/8/12 – 4/15/12 — @laura193laura
Laura Schmitt is a high school Special Education teacher from Santa Rosa, California. She retired as a Lieutenant Commander from the Coast Guard after 24 years, with a specialty in Training and Education. Laura was born nomadic and social, driving her motto “Live Life to Its Fullest.” Laura loves her “Part II” life with four kids, a condo and a Prius which enable her to travel (teaching means decent time off) and to keep in touch with friends (Coast Guard friends are worldwide). Laura’s four kids (a high school student, a college student, an Air Force Air Traffic Controller, and an Air Force Intel Specialist-in-training), her friends and family, and fitness, reading, and social media support her prime pleasure in life: budget traveling. She whole-heartedly believes in location curation as – per the TweetweekUSA initiative – “a place where the 99% can iron out our wrinkles.”
Curator 11 — Katie Haverluk — 4/1/12 – 4/8/12 — @khaverluk22
Katie Haverluk has just begun navigating life as an American expatriate living in Linköping, Sweden. Following her husband in his recent career move, Katie spends her newly unemployed days learning Swedish, focusing on completing a Master’s degree in New Media Journalism, reading too many blogs, and attempting to restrain their two unruly hound dogs in a small European city. Extraordinarily grateful for the opportunity to live and travel abroad (in her favorite country, no less), Katie is also thrilled to have more time to develop her skills as a writer, photographer, and overall creator (and curator!) of new media. A proud native Coloradoan, Katie has also lived in California, New Mexico, Virginia and D.C. Never settled and always curious, she is thrilled to share new experiences with a worldwide Twitter audience. (Katie’s two blogs are The Red Lens and Linköping With Love. Katie also produced the video @Sweden: Why Twitter Is Great For This Campaign.)
